Project

Active Human Body Models for Virtual Occupant Response, step 2

Period
1 July 2011–31 March 2015
Project manager
Bengt Pipkorn

This project will focus on implementing the active properties of musculature in a Human Body Model (HBM) of the vehicle occupant, passenger and driver, so that the HBM is capable of tensing the musculature to simulate bracing. The purpose is to simulate the full crash sequence, both the pre-crash and in-crash for frontal to lateral scenarios. The aim of this project is to develop a methodology that will enhance current HBM with active musculature and to evaluate and use the model in application areas for safety improvements.
