Project

AstaZero Sim

Period
1 January 2014-31 March 2015
Project manager
Martin Skoglund

AstaZero is a new innovation environment and test infrastructure. Accurate maps and models of the four tracks are available in the ongoing construction work. The project will transfer the map data to a model that is executable in a driving simulator. The project will make it possible to simulate driving on all four tracks of AstaZero. The VTI driving simulator SimIV at Lindholmen will be able to give a realistic experience of what it´s like to drive on AstaZero. A cost-effective solution for personal computer-based simulation of driving on AstaZero will be developed. This simple simulator can be used to prepare the tests, but hardly to draw conclusions about driver behavior. The research will provide a comparison between driving in the advanced driving simulator, in the cost-effective PC-simulation and on a test track. Project participants from the rescue service will learn more about driving under stressful conditions.
