Project

Balancing Active and Passive Safety

Period
1 September 2011-1 October 2015
Project manager
Ola Boström

The first SEVS (Safe, Efficient Vehicle Solutions) project (SEVS 1) delivered a description of four alternative future scenarios considering both societal and technological perspectives. These four scenarios for year 2030+ cover the scope from an incremental development of the current traffic situation to a radical change based on personal and / or political initiatives. Based on the SEVS 1 project conclusions, the needs for future research activities were defined by the project partners. One of the research questions that was considered as most important to the majority of the SEVS partners is the balance of active and passive safety measures for the most common accident or traffic situations in the four future alternative scenarios. This project covers the development of the methodology to evaluate the balance of active and passive safety.
