Comparative Analysis of Driver Behavior between US and EU based on Naturalistic Field Operational Test Data
Period
1 July–1 September 2011
Project manager
Marco Dozza
Naturalistic field operational tests (FOTs) promise to become the method to understand accident causation, driver behavior, and impact of active safety systems in a near future. Despite projects such as euroFOT and SeMiFOT show the leading role of Swedish partners for FOTs in Europe, the real experts are still in the US. More specifically, University of Michigan (UMTRI) and Virginia Tech (VTTI) are the leading universities in the US when it comes to execution and analysis of data from FOTs. The scope of this project is to learn FOT data analysis from the experts in the US while comparing datasets and data analysis procedures across European and American FOT datasets.
