Project

Driver response to transient distrurbances on vehicles in safety critical situations

Period
1 July 2011–31 December 2014

This project aims at driving situations where the driver is objected to transient disturbances in, or leading to, safety critical situations. Several such situations will be studied, whereof at least some will be situations where aerodynamics is the cause of the disturbance. Moving base simulators will be one of the methods for the studies. Output from the project will be deep studies of some driving situations, including safety criticality assessments. Also, there will be vehicle dynamics models suitable for running in the simulator, including aerodynamic loads and analyses of driver behavior in those situations. Where possible, counter-actions to increase safety will be analysed and proposed analysed.
