Project

Enhanced/Robust Electronic Stability Control

Period
1 January 2012-30 June 2014

The project will contribute to the design of an Active Safety Function which avoids multiple-events and/or reduces their consequences. Current Electronic Stability Control (ESC) systems are well developed for the control of vehicle yaw motions on road surfaces but are not are not designed to counteract sudden disturbances that can arise from curb contacts, impacts with quardrails, lane-edge drop offs, or minor vehicle impacts. Improvements to current ESC systems are ongoing, but special attention to sudden and short duration disturbances may be difficult for sensor and control strategies to detect and analyze.
