This prestudy will establish a cross competence areas cooperation for classification of hazardous events according to the automotive functional safety standard ISO 26262. Key aspects are functional safety, bio-mechanics, driver behavior, and field data. Currently the ISO 26262 standard is used in the passenger car industry and in the near future it will be used also by the bus and truck industry. This work will support the implementation of ISO 26262 for the project partners. The prestudy will summarize current work in industry for hazard classification, develop methods for hazard classification, demonstrate their use for representative vehicle functions, and identify the need for needed research. Project deliverables may also include a scientific paper and input for new research proposals.
