Project

IBS-Truck Integrated Braking & Steering for Active Safety of Heavy Vehicle Combinations

Period
1 January 2006-1 January 2011
Project manager
Mathias Lidberg

The objective of this project is to investigate the possibility of improving the active safety of heavy vehicle combinations with respect to yaw and roll stability. Today ESP (Electronic Stability Program) is only available for single trucks and tractors. Furthermore, only the braking system is activated to maintain stability. In the future other actuators will be available, e.g. active front and rear wheel steering. In this project we will determine how to take advantage of these possibilities for various vehicle combinations. The project also aims to develop competence in this area both in academia (Chalmers University of Technology) and industry (Volvo 3P).
