Project

Improved Injury Prediction Using HBM

Period
1 June 2009–31 March 2013
Project manager
Karin Brolin

Human body models (HBM) are and will be even more essential to develop advanced restraints. Current versions of the HBM call for additional developments including improved HBM kinematics and interactions with restraints, but especially the capabilities of the HBM to assess injury risk. This project is a part of the formation of a competence platform at SAFER/Chalmers within the field of active HBM model kinematics and advanced FE-modeling for injury prediction. For this particular project cooperation with international partners will be established, e.g. KTH, UVA, Wayne State, JARI, INRETS and LAB. This project is an important part of the first step towards development of a SAFER model for the extended crash sequence. Together with the other human model projects within SAFER, this project contributes to a competence platform on HBM within SAFER.
