PREDICTIVE THREAT ASSESSMENT FOR ENHANCED STABILITY OF MULTI-UNIT HEAVY VEHICLES
Period
1 November 2023-31 December 2026
Project manager
Leon Henderson
The objective of this research project is to improve the effectiveness of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for Multi-Unit Heavy Vehicles (MHVs), by providing them with tools that enable earlier, more effective, and less intrusive interventions than existing ADAS. We believe that such an objective can be achieved by building ADAS upon Predictive Threat Assessment (PTA) tools that can predict imminent vehicle instability of MHVs, such that active safety functions can intervene early enough to prevent vehicle accidents caused by the loss of stability.
