Project

QUADRAE Pre-study - Quantitative Driver Behaviour Modelling for Active Safety Assessment - Expansion

Period
1 April 2015–30 September 2016
Project manager
Mats Petersson

This Pre-study is a preparation phase of an application for a FFI project,  QUADRÆ. Active safety functions grow in complexity and begin to take the form of semi-automated driving. Therefore, establishment of a virtual tool chain for development and verification of active safety and vehicle automation is a highly prioritised goal for all of the industrial partners of this project proposal (Volvo Cars, AB Volvo, Autoliv). The previous FFI project QUADRA addressed the general challenge of virtual testing of active safety with a specific focus on the most challenging component of DVE (Driver-Vehicle-Environment) simulation: the driver behaviour model. The QUADRA project also identified a number of needs for further development to allow the virtual testing that is envisioned for the coming 5-10 years: Driver models that cover a wider scope of pre-crash scenarios and support systems and methodological work to clarify how to best carry out virtual testing with these models. QUADRÆ aims to meet these needs. The QUADRÆ project will also begin to address is vehicle automation where a lot has happened since the start of the QUADRA project.
