How do we best protect people in a crash? SAFER continuously develops this research area with the aim to understand and develop principles for countermeasures to prevent injuries in accidents. Driven by current human body protection needs and future challenges in the area of sustainable transportation systems, our research comprises a wide range of subjects – from biomechanical injury mechanisms and principles for protection, to mechanical and mathematical road user and car occupant models for complete crash sequence. SAFER is also a world leader in developing modelling and simulation tools for understanding how composite structures act in crashes.
