This week’s Thursday seminar is hosted by Lotta Jakobsson, SAFER’s Research area director for Human Body Protection

Child occupant protection workshops; an example of successful project dissemination and international interaction
Speaker: Lotta Jakobsson is a Senior Technical Leader in Injury Prevention at Volvo Cars Safety Centre. She is also Adjunct Professor at Chalmers in Vehicle Safety, and heads the Research on Human Body Protection within SAFER. She is also the project leader of the FFI funded and SAFER associated project which is the host of the international workshop, “Assessment of Passenger Safety in Future Cars”.

With the main purpose to inspire other SAFER researchers, Lotta Jakobsson will talk about the international coordination of knowledge in the area of rear seat safety and child occupant protection, as an example of successful project dissemination and international interaction. International multidisciplinary workshops are held on a regular basis to identify high-priority research topics and strategizes toward their implementation, while joining efforts in spreading recent research results. Specifically, Lotta will share experiences from the recent workshop in September this year, involving 19 international researchers focusing on the topic of future mobility challenges including autonomous drive and car sharing.

Speaker: Katarina Bohman in a Technical Expert in Biomechanics at Volvo Cars Safety Centre, with more than 15 years of experience in child safety in cars

Katarina Bohman will highlight and discuss the challenges of child safety in future cars. The presentation will include children interacting with the car from the outside, in addition to child occupant protection challenges inside the car – taking increased automation as well as new types of car ownerships. This presentation was given at the SAFER Child Occupant Protection seminar in September, where 10 international child safety experts shared latest knowledge and challenges in future mobility to an audience of 60 peoples.
