Safe Mobility for Older Drivers: Analysis of Challenging Situations, Self-Reported Driving Habits and Capacity among Older Drivers (70+) In Sweden

A lot of heterogeneity exists in the older population. It is therefore particularly crucial to study how various factors influence the way older drivers regulate their driving habits. Estimation of the own capacity related to cognitive performances, as well as accident involvement, and drivers characteristics and willingness to change may influence the regulation of driving activity. These factors can be analysed to identify potential new subgroups with regards to self-estimations of cognitive ability, driving abilities and driving habits. The present study is based on about 2 000 drivers over 70 years old in Sweden who answered a questionnaire. The study will contribute with new knowledge about the older driver population’s capacity and self-assessment. The objectives are:
