Project

SAFE MOVE for older drivers

Period
6 December 2011–31 March 2016
Project manager
Tania Dukic Willstrand

The aim of this project is to increase safe mobility for older drivers by three complementing approaches. Safe mobility will be addressed first by finding out the determinants for driving regulation, i.e. factors leading to under- and overestimation of cognitive performances and driving ability. For drivers who are over or underestimating their driving capacities, possibilities to use driving simulator will be looked at and a driving simulator based training and a learning management system will be developed. Development of assistance systems into the car itself will be done to prolong active driving for older people. These assistance systems will be developed to take into account specific needs of older drivers, online and offline adaptation will be created to support older drivers in previously identified critical traffic scenarios. The target group for SAFE MOVE is active healthy drivers older than 65 years old.
