The Lunch & Networking seminar week 47 will be hosted by Fredrik Von Corswant and Christian Berger from SAFER’s connected research resource Revere!

As part of our joint Vinnova project "AutoFreight", the team from Chalmers Revere designed and equipped a truck with data logging equipment including onboard CAN data, GPS/IMU, and several video camera systems for a logistics company. The truck shall be used on a daily operation between two logistics hubs between Gothenburg and Borås and commute on highways including entry/exit roads. The driving time per run is around 1.5h and the truck shall run around three times per day between the two sites - hence, the data will contain interesting driving situations under varying light, weather, and traffic situations. The additional challenge, though, originates from the fact that we cannot access the truck in person to offload the data - the only option is to upload the data wirelessly; this was also the reason why the project is internally called "Voyager".

In this presentation, we will present the system's design and the additional challenges that needed to be considered during the operation of the system.

Welcome!
