Abstract:
The project "Development of Tools for Traffic Safety Improvement (TSA II)" has been successfully completed, and the results are now available for organisations to implement. The project was initiated in response to the growing need to integrate traffic safety into sustainability efforts by both private and public actors. This need is particularly significant in light of UN Resolution 74/299 and the Stockholm Declaration, which emphasize the importance of traffic safety as a central component of organisational sustainability work.
The project aimed to develop a practical and adaptable tool to help organisations systematically improve their traffic safety. Through a combination of literature reviews and case studies conducted at Chalmers University of Technology, Lund University, and Sweco, the project has created a methodology that enables organisations to:
- Identify their traffic safety impact areas.
- Determine their level of ambition and prioritize actions.
- Inventory and use relevant indicators to set goals, monitor progress, and improve their traffic safety efforts.
The result is a modular tool that can be tailored to each organisation's specific needs and current situation. The tool helps organisations define goals, develop action plans, and integrate traffic safety as a natural part of their sustainability reporting. This approach not only helps meet procurement requirements but also demonstrates a commitment to traffic safety to employees, customers, and society at large.
Both the tool and the comprehensive final report are now available for download, providing organisations with the opportunity to take concrete steps toward a safer traffic environment.
This project was funded by Skyltfonden, Trafikverket.
