A communicating bicycle helmet – can this support the urgent need to tackle deaths of pedestrians and cyclists?

This is what we aim to understand more about in SAFER’s recently associated project; Communicating bicycle helmet . In this new collaborative project our researchers are looking into the possibility of helmets to reduce injuries and, notably, the possibility of a helmet to communicate with other road users. Safety net for trucks - new project to help ensure safe automation

SAFER has a new project in its portfolio; High integrity system for ensuring safety of automated driving features. The project is looking into potential systems for monitoring driving, detecting hazards and intervening before active safety systems e.g. braking systems need to be activated.

Nudging - can the traffic environment be safer with unconscious positive behavioral changes?

Nudging is about influencing people's behavior by making it easier to do right - a little push in the right direction. The theory behind nudging was rewarded with the Nobel Prize 2017 and now SAFER researchers are conducting a project, MeBeSafe, to investigate how to design a safer traffic environment inspired by the Nobel Prize theory. Nudges being tested in MeBeSafe
